Dr. Yabuuchi joined the team in April 2003 after receiving her Ph.D. in Developmental Biotechnology from the Laboratory of Animal Reproduction at Kinki University, Nara, Japan. She also received her BS and MS degrees in Developmental Biotechnology from Kinki University. Akiko is trained in nuclear transfer (cell fusion method and direct injection method), embryo culture and embryo transfer and somatic and ES cell culture. She is currently working on nuclear transfer of somatic cells and fetal fibroblast cells in rat. Akiko enjoys playing with dogs and enjoys watching the Animal planet.

Dr. Yabuuchi is now a Research Associate a Harvard Medical School, Children's Hospital Boston in the laboratory of Dr. George Daley, MD.
