Dr.
Beyhan joined the CRL team in October 2003. He received his Ph.D.
and Masters degree in Endocrinology-Reproductive Physiology (2003)
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a DVM degree (1989)
from the University of Ankara. His research for his M.S. program
was focused on sexual dimorphism in pre-implantation bovine embryos.
His PhD work concentrated on understanding the molecular mechanisms
involved in nuclear and cellular reprogramming events that take
place during nuclear transfer procedures in bovine (cattle) embryos,
especially the understanding of transcription and gene expression
patterns in nuclear transfer embryos. An accurate picture of these
events will help researchers to develop more efficient cloning
techniques, which in turn will provide an efficient tool for all
related areas such as transgenics, cell technologies and animal
agriculture to improve their efficiencies and improve our lives
ultimately. His current research here in the Cellular Reprogramming
Laboratory is an extension of previous works, utilizing laboratory
animals as a model.
